Phenomenal Women Book Club was founded by moderator Makeda Peterson with friends and family Cara Tilton, Mione Lewis, Paula Miller, Kellie Johnson, and Nadia Leon in September 2007 and held its first “Meet and Greet” in October 2007. The basis of the group is to discuss books with a sister circle of women of color of all age ranges in the Greater New Orleans area who enjoy reading and socializing at the homes of members or local restaurants. We read a variety of genres; poetry, fiction, self help, inspirational/motivational, historical, romance, biographies, street fiction and mystery written by or about African Americans. Each month's meeting is hosted by a Phenomenal Woman who adds her own flavor to the discussion questions, theme, setting, and food. It is our effort to develop a networking sisterhood with women of color from all ages, backgrounds, and professions. If you or any of your friends and/or family are interested in being a part of Phenomenal Women Book Club please email us PWBC email with the subject Phenomenal Women Book Club. Also feel free to add any ideas in the message. Hope to hear from you soon.
